The sea ice arrived a full month early this year, from the second week in January. Of course this scene always makes my heart sing. After a lovely fall season, which was largely spent in what we call the interim period at Gampo Abbey, a time when we rest and renew. During those months I was able to engage with different ways to nurture my practice and prepare myself to become brave, awake, and radically kind. As usual the local environment stimulated so much curiosity.
Here are a few images from this experience.
I was also thrilled to find some discarded thermal paper from a credit card terminal which was a treat to work with producing a beautiful grey green that I see in the ocean. Click here to see a few examples.
